The event that happened in Lac-Mégantic brings a lot of questions about the safety in the railway network and the train industry. In her article "Canada, U.S. transportation safety boards unite to demand 3 key rail safety changes" publish on January 23, Charmaine Norontha informs us that the Canada and the National Transportation Safety Board decide to make some actions to prevent such accidents. They suggest that some model of train be change because these are not enough strong and may not resist derailment. These older model should not be used anymore in the transportation of liquid that may be flammable. Also, every tanker car should remains under the speed limit and car with dangerous cargo should make sure that the road they will take is entirely safe from the beginning until the end.
The overall industry of transportation by train should be improved and more supervised. Trains are passing every hour in our city and near our home we should insure that all the equipments and installations are safe and that the norms (ex: speed) are respected. This can save lives.
