I mainly focus on crime and law. However, i think that poverty is an important issue that should be discussed.
Free the children
Core values and goals
Once again, another organization that helps against poverty, though this one concentrates more towards youth and enhancing their capabilities. They work towards a world where any child can reach his/her highest potential no matter what conditions s/he may live in. They even try to remove every barrier that stands in their way to achieving that goal. Thus, allowing them to become active citizens of the world. They achieve this by educating, engaging and empowering all the children in need. Free the Children always follow their values some of which include commitment and passion, getting the job done… Period, and empowering youth to Change the World.
Free the Children have many projects currently going on in 2013, most of which anyone can join in. Some of these campaigns include a penny drive which consists of people from all over the world can get a penny bag from them and then fundraise by collecting pennies from anyone they see. Brick by brick is another campaign which builds schools in places in need of them.
Just like many of their projects, a way to volunteer would be by joining them and being an active person supporting this organization. Not only do they offer many different campaigns for you to participate in Free the Children, but they also give career opportunities to those interested with the required knowledge. Some of these include graphic designer, production manager and other jobs involving technology and communications. As well as human resources and many other posts.
For the job opportunities, you can contact them at the following email: firstname.lastname@example.org. If you just want to join their campaigns all you have to do is go on their site, Freethechildren.com, and sign up!
Core values and goals
Although this organization does not relate to privacy, I still find it a compelling subject to write about. The organization, Care, helps against poverty. Care works in over 80 different countries and does many things to help those in need. They improve basic education and health needs, give access to clean water, enhance the lifestyles of those in need and much more. However, Care takes special consideration for females. They give them job opportunities while they are helping out a village in need. You could almost say that this organization is a feminist group that helps people living in poverty.
Care doesn’t have many projects currently in 2013. However, they held a few in 2011-2012. One of them that was a highlight of 2011-2012 was responding to the drought in East Africa. They went there to support and help those affected by the drought. Another ongoing project is Walk in her shoes. It’s an event where any Canadian at any time can just take a walk of 8000 steps for 8 days to feel what it’s like to be a female that has to walk many kilometers just to reach a water source.
There are many volunteer opportunities available. Most of these include fundraising. Other jobs include canvassing, data input, helping during events, writing and editing, data gathering and analysis, IT, translation and a few more.
