This is a really good summary. I strongly agree that these spending are a waste of the taxes money. While a lot of people are living in the streets, due to a lack of government funds in homeless shelter as Accueil Bonneau (see the link for more information), Maire Coderre is spending big money on lawyers and labour negotiation consultant. It is sad to see that the priorities of the different governments of Canada (provincial and federal) are not at the right place, based on society's will and mostly on moral. If the money could be took in charge by people who actually want a better society, I believe things could be better for Canadian who struggle surviving.
This is a good summary. I approve the fact that there is not enough help for homeless people who want to get back on their feet. The resources they have while being homeless, such as Accueil Bonneau in Montreal (see the link for more information), are very useful for their survival since they can get food and shelter. However, I feel like they are left to themselves when it is time to get their life back together, find a job and a shelter of their own. The system we live in does not put enough emphasis on the help people need to live in a society where the cost of life is always rising while the minimum wage is approximately always the same.
The comment is interesting in the sense that it goes in the same way as mine saying that there is a huge controversy between taxi drivers and Uber. It also states all the good side of Uber and how it is so much easier to use for the consumer. However, the last part of the comment is where I disapprove. The writer states that if the taxi drivers cannot beat Uber, then they better join them. I do not think this is the best solution. Indeed, if the taxi driver only continue to do protests that do not change anything really, eventually people will only use the Uber services because it will be how things will be done in the transport industry. But if the taxi companies want to compete with Uber, they need to be willing to upgrade their services in order to be as efficient and useful as Uber.
This is a really good text. It is interesting because you give your own perspective about how you feel about a company you know well! I do think it is good that Starbucks follows the country's culture but what about the efforts the women do to change how things are done. For example, in the article "Saudi Arabia Orders Women Segregated From Men in Council Meetings" (http://www.wsj.com/articles/saudi-arabia-orders-women-segregated-from-me...) , it explains that women that are part of the council will be able to be heard from their colleges through video, but not seen. It is good that women can participate in politics, but the same room ban is still challenge present for women, as shown in your review. If big companies as Starbucks start to change how they behave, maybe it can have a positive impact for the right of women in countries like this one. Having lived in a country where women have almost all the same rights as men all my life, I think that everyone should have the right to go shopping alone or to be in the same place as the other gender. I believe that if everyone tries to make a difference, it is possible to help the women in these countries who try to be more responsible of their destiny by having more rights.
I really like what you have posted on this blog as of now. This is very interesting to me, especially with the American elections coming up next year. I think there might be a way for you to integrate this event in your project by talking about the elections in the context of the US' economy's future. I look forward to seeing what your paper will look like. Have fun writing!
I think you have picked a very interesting topic which is definitively an important issue in our country and around the world. I would try to outline maybe some of the differences between Canadian alcoholism and worldwide alcoholism in order to better point out how this problem specifically affects Canadians. Other than that you seem to be quite on your way. Keep up the good work!
I like your topic a lot. I think it might be an overlooked issue in Canada, especially from white person's point of view. I also find very interesting the questions you raised on your topic. I feel that your outline is very complete and I do not notice any ambiguity. To improve your outline just a bit more, maybe ask yourself what might cause racism in the first place, apart from the media. Otherwise, I think your outline is excellent.
I like your topic because it focuses on a specific group in the Canadian population. I will be interesting to see the results of the research and what it would mean for the rest of the Canadian population. I like the distinction you made between the ideal and reality of the families' situations. To improve your outline, I suggest you come up with more specific questions, they look hard to answer, even with the appropriate research.
The rest of the outline, however, is very good.
This topic is really interesting and it will be a challenging topic to wright about. Even if it's a hard concept i am sure you will learn a lot about our world and how many different ways the human race has changed it. your work is great but id like to see more examples of how nuclear weapons have affected the world.
