Air Pollution Threatens Beijing and rest of China

For the first time ever in Beijing, the government sounded its first ever air pollution red alert. Most schools had closed down while the alert was in action. Parents had their children kept indoors. People took safety precautions such as using masks and air purifiers. The red alert ended when strong winds took away the smog. Although the smog left Beijing, people in the south are now suffering from even more polluted air. People have now raised the question as to whether or not the communist party is capable of cleaning up China’s environment. Many people believe that the red alert is pointless because it does not solve any real problems in helping stop the pollution once and for all. I personally have to disagree because even though it doesn’t help stop the pollution at the moment, it is a wake up call not only to China but also to the rest of the world, or at least I hope it is. Each country has to take a stand in helping protect our environment, not just for ourselves, but also for our children, our grandchildren and so on.
