Refugees’ problem

Recently, a lot of serious problems have been happening all over the world. Do you know anything about refugees? I think the refugees’ problem is the most serious problem. I think most of the young people don’t know much about the problem. Actually, I didn’t know anything about it. That’s why I focused on the refugees from Syria, and researched about their present circumstance, so I will mention about it. And also, I will tell you about Japanese Prime Minister’s opinion and my opinion.

First of all, I would like to tell you about the present circumstance of Syrian refugees. About four and half years have passed since a conflict has begun in Syria. According to “Syria Regional Refugee Response”, the number of refugees exceeds to 4,000,000, but 7,600,000 people are still in Syria, because they had no way to leave their own country. More than half of the population became refugees. The refugees flooded into the neighborhood countries, for example, turkey and Lebanon. Many of them wanted to go to Europe, so they were heading to Europe. However, I found an article from “International organization for migration,” and it said that a lot of rollover accidents happened in succession on their way to Europe. Many people including Syrian refugees were killed in the accidents, and the death toll has reached 2000 people. Only 6 percent of the refugees could get to Europe. Although only few Syrian could get there too, according to “UNHCR Global trends,” 98,000 people could flee from the civil war to Germany, 64,000 people went to Sweden, 18,000 people went to Austria, and 7000 people took shelter from the war in the United Kingdom. It means an inflow of Syrians to each country are not few. Germany recognized 87 percent and more people and the United Kingdom also recognized 91 percent and more people as refugees, and the two countries were protecting them. This is the present circumstance of the refugees.

Secondly, I would like to tell you about Japanese government’s opinions about the refugees. According to “The Big Story,” the Japanese Prime Minister, Abe decided that Japan will provide $1.5 billion in emergency aid for refugees and for stabilization of communities facing upheaval. He said that "As an issue of demography, I would say that before accepting immigrants or refugees we need to have more activities by women, by elderly people and we must raise (the) birth rate. There are many things that we should do before accepting immigrants." Although 63 Syrian people made an application to the Japanese government for refugee approval, Japan authorized only 3 people as refugees. According to “Tokyo web,” Japanese supporters of the refugees said that Japanese certification criteria is too strict. A man who came from Syria applied for refugee approval to the Japanese government. Before he came to Japan, he took part in a demonstration of democratic movement, but he was afraid of persecution of political power. That’s why he came to Japan. However, the Japanese government judged that he didn't apply to the condition, so his application was not recognized. The supporters said that the government should accept the refugees as a member of international society, and they should work for the protection of refugees.

Finally, I am going to tell you about my opinion about the refugees. As I mentioned Prime Minister Abe’s opinion above, he will provide money for the refugees, but before Japan help the refugees, the government has to solve domestic problems. I agree with his opinion, because Japan has a lot of problems which should be solved quickly. I know that we have to help each other when we have a trouble, but at first, we have to consider about our life. Moreover, I think Japan is not ready for the refugees’ acceptation. A number of lobar in Japan is decreasing now, so I think it is a good idea that the refugees can work in Japan. However, I think many of the refugees cannot speak Japanese. If they don’t know the language, it is very difficult to find a job. Then, if they couldn’t find a job, maybe some of them commit a crime for money. It means a number of crime will be increase. I think it’s dangerous. For these reasons, I agree with Prime Minister Abe’s opinion.

In conclusion, Syrian refugees’ problem is very serious problem all over the world. Each countries has its problems, so I think it’s very difficult to solve refugees’ problem quickly. The number of refugees is increasing even now, although the number of countries which accept them are also increasing, the refugees still have problems. When and who can solve this problem? I cannot answer the question because it’s a very difficult question for me. That’s why I’m going to think what I can do for the refugees from now on.
