The article Race to College: The “Reverse Gap” written by William Mangino argues that a reverse gap exists in the college educational system. Mangino does an experiment using a group of 12,576 people of five different races but only focusing of whites and blacks. The author wants to break the stereotype that black people are drop outs and white people are high graduates.

Carrie’s (2014) study investigated the relationship between white students in an all-white high school and the concept of race. The researcher wanted to know how white high school students living in a suburban working-class neighborhood in the United States of America developed their social identity. She also wanted to see if the students were aware of their white privilege since the students considered themselves to be “normal”. She wanted to see if the students living in town where whiteness dominants, would be able to discuss the concept of race.

Is the government contributing to an epidemic that they are trying to cure? The U.S. government bankrolls a program called SNAP. The SNAP (Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program) aka Food Stamps is a  federally  funded program that gives monies to poor people to buy food. The goal of this program is to combat hunger in low income people. This is an admirable goal but what about its side effects?

<p align="center">I will be writing about how difficult it is to live with brothers and sisters of different backgrounds. When we go places and do things in public as a family, people tend to give us dirty looks and place judgement. I believe that people cannot comprehend things that are different, and it goes hand-in-hand with the inequalities visual minorities are faced with. In Diamond`s article ``Race Without Color¨, he writes about how different skin color is a result of the geographical area in which an individual is situated in.

For the past weeks, my classmates and I have had the opportunity to learn about many things regarding “race”. From what I have learned, there is only one race and that is the human race. Humans are classified in different categories of “race” based on traits that are given to them at birth. Such as, skin color, hair texture and sometimes the opposite sex they are attracted to. Race can be defined in many different ways, but sometimes race can be looked as a prejudice for many colored people in today’s society. Race can be hard to explain most of the time because of skin color.

The concept of race is something that we all think to know fairly well; in a given species, there are different populations because of their different features and this is what we call race. According to this simple definition, we, humans, tend to group each other as such: Whites, Blacks, Asians, Latinos, and so forth. However, the thing that most people do not know is that we cannot apply the concept of race to humans. In his article “Race Without Color”, Jared Diamond fully explains why humans should not and cannot be divided into races.

As a Caucasian girl who has blonde hair and blue eyes, I have never, in my eighteen years of life, experienced any form of racism. However, I have witnessed friends and coworkers being discriminated and not receiving the same treatment as me, just because their skin colour was darker than mine. I believe that, in a modern society like ours, skin tone should not be an issue anymore.
