I care about the topic of drug-free treatment for mental illness because I strongly believe that it should be encouraged around the world. I’ve seen people in my life that are close to me suffer from mental disorders and the horrible side effects they had to go through while taking pharmaceuticals and visiting doctors every week. I care about it even more than I did before because I know a lot more about it now. In order to get my results, I read and analyzed specific chapters from 3 different novels that I found the most relevant to my topic.

For about two months now, I have been writing a lot about homelessness in Canada. In fact, this particular social issue caught my attention at first as it affects hundred of thousands of Canadians every year, and a lot more around the world. Moreover, I felt homelessness was an important issue as it can affect anybody. In fact, anybody can become homeless at one point in his or her life, which I believe makes it a social issue that needs addressing.

Beyond the Limits of the Law: Corporate Crime and Law and Order written by John L. McMullan was published in 1996.The general subjects matter of this book is crime and law. This book talks about the problems   that come along with corporate crime and how the law deals with individuals who engage in this behaviour. I choose to read chapter 4 of this book which is titled “The Law, the State and the Control of Corporate Crime” because it’s the main center of that the book is all about.

In this article, it goes in detail how police are beginning to use social media as a new form of policing. In some cases, people are cooperating and helping police making arrest through websites like Facebook. In many other cases, though police are simply just searching names and visiting fan pages which is leading to the arrest of many suspects.

Rape has long been a part of world history. In Ancient Rome, rape was referred to as “raptus” meaning violent theft, and this term was applied to both people and property (Jiloha 250). I would like to believe that more than 2,000 years later, we as a society could figure out how to stop assaulting women and men in this way. It is well known that women are the primary victims, but why is this? Are we considered weaker? The lesser gender? Unfit to fight back?

The article that I chose mainly focused on bullying in Irish school systems and how cyberbullying is a new obstacle for school management and conducted research on how they can begin to put policies in place to help prevent cyberbullying. The article mentions how since the 1970’s research data has been collected and since then there has been a lot of data taken in regards to individual differences and aggression held toward defining features and sub-types. More importantly this data is being used to determine methods on how to help get rid of bullying and even cyberbullying for good.

February 17th 2014 Ending the Death Penalty by Dale. S  Recinella Is the death penalty necessary? After 1976, when the death penalty was reinstated, innocent people were wrongly convicted (Recinella, 2008, p.12). According to many churches, if there is no other way to protect innocent law-abiding citizens the death penalty shall be used (Recinella, 2008, p. 13). I believe that the death penalty is ineffective.
