This semester, I have been writing a lot about crimes happening around the world. It is something that seems to really interest me since I have asked myself this plenty of times, what drives someone to commit a crime knowing that it always comes with repercussions? For example, many of my articles talked about criminals who seemed to not really think things through. Leaving the scene in a hurry in a getaway car and not knowing what to do after. The plan seems so planned out, but once it is done, that is when things usually get complicated for them.

During the past few weeks, I have been reading and summarizing news articles about physical activity and health. In fact, it was proven that obesity was due to the lack of exercise and the lack of a healthy diet. Obesity rates have increased rapidly in a short period of time. To put you in perspective, one in four Canadians are obese (Super-Sized 2). Also, obesity rates have increased from 25 to 35 percent for women and from 20 to 35 percent for men between 1988 and 2010 (You Are What You Eat 2).

Education is arguably the most valuable commodity in one’s life and, thus, should be considered an essential service. Sadly, however, its accessibility is questionable when special needs students are involved. Their integration into the classroom and society is difficult at the best of times. In fact living with a handicap makes getting an education even harder for special needs students as they feel left out of social circles and are deprived of basic educational services due to insufficient funding.

After hearing and reading about the recent stabbings in the metro station in Montreal, I thought it would be interesting to research whether or not their background, meaning their education, had anything to do with their choice to engage in criminal activity. I honestly believe that people who have a good education won’t find the need to commit any crime, but I thought that maybe by doing some research, I would be able to confirm or refute my hypothesis.

In recent decades the portrayal of war violence in Western media has become more regulated and less anticipated by audiences. The use of certain graphic images or detailed content concerning war is for the most part highly censored due to underlying ethical issues, as well as potential consequences this kind of mass exposure could have on audiences. In contrast, other audiences that are exposed to non-Western media outlets such as Al-Jazeera “quite reasonably [expect] gore and dead bodies to be part of war coverage” (Friedersdorf, 2013).

In today’s television programs, many crime based TV shows are at the peak of what is being watched during night time television. This includes shows such as Castle, Criminal Minds, and the well-known CSI: Crime Scene Investigation to name a few. While these shows are entertaining for their viewers, there is a certain level of forensic evidence that is being presented in each program.

I decided to write this post on Brittany Snow and her investment in the movement called “Love is Louder” because it has really affected the world positively. Brittany Snow is an American actress from Tampa, Florida who now resides in Los Angeles. Throughout her life, she suffered from anorexia, exercise bulimia, suppression, severe depression and self-harm, and when she was just 17 years old, she weighed 85 pounds (Click here for source).

“The major challenge for humanity in the twenty-first century is to learn to live within the web of life on Earth without destroying it.” (Cassils, 2004)   With a population that has recently reached and exceeded 7 billion people, the interwoven problems in relation to overpopulation, consumption, resource depletion, and environmental degradation continues to be compounded upon (Ehrlich, 2012). Overpopulation in relation to these other factors is not strictly an issue among the science community, but is also a highly political and economic issue as well.

It seems to me that robbing a bank is not always a great idea. It’s too public and it takes longer to get the money and escape before the police get there. However, it also seems to me that the robbers found a solution; armored delivery trucks. There are only two guards and the money is right there for the taking. So here’s the problem and solution at hand, armored truck deliveries should be done with better security; three guards as a minimum. I found three articles that will back my argument. The first article is “Phila.

Abortion is an issue that causes controversy and frustration among many people. There are many different groups of people that have their own opinions. More religious people tend to be against abortion whereas non-religious people tend to be pro-abortion. Although this topic is discussed often, the general population has a hard time agreeing its morality. As a pure and applied student, I have the chance to apply into the medical field so I think it is important to discuss the ethical implications of such a procedure.

In 1988, abortion was legalized in Canada. Regardless of this fact, it remains one of the most discussed and debated topics as it is still one of the few countries that allow it. Abortion is the termination of a fetus during human pregnancy and may easily seem morally unjust or ethically wrong seeing that many believe that a human life is being severed. Others view abortion as the removal of a fetus in a good light since they believe that a fetus is not alive until birth. For this reason it is not seen as an act of murder.

On Monday January 19th 2015, the young 11 years old First Nations’ Makayla Sault died of cancer in her house. As written by Gloria Galloway in the Globe and Mail on January 19th 2015, this little girl had cancer but she was taken away from chemotherapy by her parents last year. The motives of her parents for that decision were that they are aboriginal people and they thought it was better for her healing to receive traditional treatments instead.

On Friday, January 17, there was a hit-and-run that had taken place at about 6:05 p.m. in Old Longueil at the intersection of Lafayette Boulevard and Providence Street. The article “Two women hurt in hit and run in Longueil” by Jason Magder published in the Montreal Gazette on January 23 brings up the topic of this news article. In Longueil, there were two young women that were hit by a white sedan and were injured, and yet, the driver didn’t stop to offer them any help. The police are now searching for witnesses to this incident.
