written by : Kristoffer Charles, Tijani Umar, Anthony Marando Now a day, media is a composition of many means of communication and has become key to the growing of our modern society’s epistemology. However, we need to be aware that authorities sometimes give a bias perspective according to their beliefs and preconceptions, and where they are in the world. Therefore, we can notice that networks all over the world broadcast their information differently. The way   Al Jazeera covers a story versus the way western Media cover the same story is a very good example of this situation.

By Yonathan Gebermedhin and Jonathan Grant  When one thinks of a news organization like CNN, their first thought is surely of the country they operate in, the United States of America. But nowadays, citizens of the U.S. are becoming skeptical of their own news agencies, fearing government censorship and bias. Often, this leads to a search for the other side of the story, where a fresh perspective can be found and explored.

Everyday we are bombarded with advertisements. We see them on TV, the Internet, the radio, in magazines even on the billboards next to highways! Adults understand that the main goal of the market is to sell their product, but children do not. In the past, the best way to sell children’s products was through parents, but not anymore. Most children are innocent and get easily influenced by advertisements. The average American child views about 40, 000 television commercials per year.

Going back to the first civilizations, no such things as internet or television existed. When an important event occurred people only found out by hearing it from other people. During the medieval ages, people were even paid to yell the story from a street corner as town criers. Starting from these ages we saw the evolution of media and the way that news were told.

There are so many different news sources around the world that compile today’s latest news. One would automatically think that the major stories would show up in several news sources internationally. Through a deeper research however, one would find that major stories in other countries that should be known worldwide, are not. Generally, one always hears stories that are from the United States of America whether in North America or other continents. After exploration, we have compiled a few top stories from different new sources around the world.

There is a bus in ottawa that is crossing at an intersection over a rail track. A train is coming. The driver of the bus thinks that the train is far away when something goes wrong with the bus mechanisms. He thinks he can make it across the tracks in time. He doesn't, and neither did a group of innocent passengers. Due to reckless actions (or a mechanism gone wrong), people were killed in an accident.

Advertisers are not stupid; they know exactly when and where to air their ads during T.V shows, in magazines and other social media attractions in order to reach the largest receptive audience. It is no secret that advertisers today will do pretty much anything in their power to ensure that their product or service well recognized and well known throughout the market area especially towards the target audience.

On April 15, 2013, a marathon took place in Boston. During this marathon, terrorists planted two bombs in different places to kill and harm these runners. The bombs were specifically timed out so that the good runners would not be in the blast, whereas the slower runners would get hit. This made national news and was written about in every newspaper around the globe. Every newspaper had their view on this event and was written differently.
