Marijuana is a classic drug that everyone knows is illegal to use. However, teens still do. Ritalin (methylphenidate) is a prescription medication used to treat ADHD, ADD, and narcolepsy. This drug belongs to a category of central nervous stimulants, and acts to help focus one’s attention and concentration solely on a specific task to be done. Sounds pretty good right? Ritalin is legal, serves a legit purpose, and is prescribed for actual diseases/conditions - unlike the stereotypes of marijuana. Some people feel that Ritalin is so good - it should be passed out in schools for those kids that are "just too out of control". This article discusses the use of Ritalin on elementary/middle school kids, as well as the similarities/differences about marijuana and Ritalin.
