Hunger        I would like to tell you about tell you about Hunger people in the world. There are many hunger people in both of the developing and developed country. This issue is very serious. So I want you to know this issue.      First of all I am going to tell you about starvation. Starvation is meaning suffering or death caused by lack of food. For example Malnutrition is caused by a luck of food and then the state in which the maintenance of physical conditions difficult.

On Thursday, February 27, 2014, an article was published online on CTV “Quebec unveils $52M plan to tackle homelessness”. This article explains how the Quebec government is willing to invest about 52 million dollars to help solve the problem of homelessness found in the province. There are five domains where this investment will be mainly focused upon. These areas consist of “housing, health services and social services, income, education, social inclusion and social and professional integration and issues related to criminalization”.

In our lives, we see many people, some we like, and others we don’t. Some people we get along with, and others we argue a lot. However, there are only a few people that we look up to. Very few people who inspire us to make a difference in this world. Throughout my news summary and all the research and readings I’ve done to write my super post on volunteering opportunities to help the homeless people in Montreal, I learned about Emmet Johns Pops. His actions amazed me and his words and the way he carried out his project motivated me to start thinking about something I can do.

On the week of December 27, 2013, a homeless man was found dead on Carlton St. near Loblaws. It was published online on GTA “Homeless man found dead on Carlton St” by Jacques Gallant. This news is heartbreaking. Not a lot of information was revealed about this man right away, however it is said that he did have “The Good’s Neighbor Club” card on him. This place was a drop in centre for 50 years and older homeless men. According to the officials, the death of this victim was due to the ice storm. The last few hours he was alive, he was outside in the cold weather, -10°C.

 In today’s society, homelessness is a growing issue everywhere and especially in America and Canada. The number of individuals found on the streets, boulevards, metro stations and downtown Montreal is countless, and it includes people from all ages. In the article “Canadian cities to fly gay pride flags in Olympic protest” written February 6 2014, Allan Woods talks about the protest taking place in Montreal about gay rights that has been raised by the issue of Russia’s anti-gay laws. Montreal is one of many Canadian cities that have decided to raise the gay pride flag for the duration of the Olympics Games in recognition of all the gay and lesbian communities in Russia.

On Thursday, January 02, 2014, an article was published on CTV news regarding a homeless man being threatened by a police officer that he will tie him to a pole outside in -30°C. The incident took place around 3: 00 p.m. on January 02 outside of Jean Talon metro station.  A 52 second video was posted online by a YouTube user in the name of Omar Tunisiano. The video ends with the cameraman speaking up for the homeless man. This video was seen by the Mayor Denis Coderre and he tweeted his reaction. The Mayor was not the only one who was concerned of this homeless man.

In fact, according to a study by Quebec’s statistics institute, children living in the Montreal area are fatter than those residing in the suburbs.

Sexting is the act of sending explicit photographs or messages to another person in a highly suggestive way in order to lead to sexual encounters. Last November, nine boys, between 13 and 15 years old, were arrested for sexting and possession of child pornography in Laval. In the article “Laval Teens charged in ‘sexting’ case back in court” published in the Gazette, Jason Magder explains the situation and the charges that stand against these young boys.

Megan Griffith-Greene posted an article on the Montreal CBC news online, “Sports drinks unnecessary, counterproductive for most people” on January 31st, 2014. This article explains how many of us intake energy drinks after doing our workouts. However, it is proven that the energy drinks do not necessarily benefit everyone. A CBC marketplace research shows that most Canadians have an energy drink after their workout; however they do not need one. Energy drinks are not needed for those who workout at an average level for their age.

On January 31st, 2014,  Sheren Jegtvlg, Reuters posted an article “Seeing ultrasound rarely changes abortion plans: study” on NBC news. This article informs us about abortion ratings in Los Angeles. According to the facts, 99 percent of women who visit the hospital for an abortion did not back up from their decision even after willingly seeing their ultrasound. In fact, more than 15 000 women in Los Angeles have aborted their child, and the ultrasound only stopped a very small number of women.

On January 25th, three people were found dead by police officers at the Mall in Columbia following a shooting. According to the article “Three Killed in Shooting in Maryland Mall; Police Call the Deaths Isolated” by Jada F. Smith and Emma G. Fitzsimmons, published on January 25th, 2014 on the site of the New York Times, the Maryland shopping mall opened its doors at around 10 a.m.
