  Euthanasia is a polarizing subject that causes many people to debate whether or not it is an ethical procedure to preform. However, in this text we will be exploring if the euthanasia debate itself is represented in an ethical way in the media. The main article that will be used as a reference is from the New York Times and it discusses how the euthanasia has been legalized within Canada after a twenty-two year ban.

In the field of health science, given the circumstances,  medical doctors need to have developed the moral capacity of making the best choice even if it means putting someone else’s life in danger. The philosophy of Utilitarianism enables professionals to always go through a cost-benefit analysis before committing to a final decision. One major principle of the this theory is the “Greatest Happiness Principle” which states that, “actions are right in proportion as they tend to promote happiness, wrong as they tend to produce the reverse of happiness.
