The United States of America is a big country. With 322 million inhabitants, it is the third most inhabited country in the world. It is as well known for its diversity and immense culture. However, its population had been divided between two major political parties for more than 150 years now; the Republican Party and the Democratic Party. Even today, we can notice a major difference in the both parties’ method of approaching problems. In other words, they have different worldviews. I will be writing about the different social worldviews between the parties.

All around the world, countries set a certain age limit in order to control the consumption of alcohol of younger people.  In the United States, the minimum limit drinking age (MLDA) is 21 years old and has been that way since 1984 when Congress passed the National Minimum Age Drinking Act. Recent disagreements on possibly lowering the MLDA in the U.S. was brought up by numerous college presidents throughout the country seeking it to be reduced to 18 years of age.

Gender transition, nowadays a frequent topic due to the multiple confessions of ‘not feeling good in one's own skin', has become an issue in many countries with regard to its legalization while conforming to one's culture and beliefs. More accepted in open countries, such as America, Canada, and Australia, transsexuality is, however, a crucial matter in regions with a stricter background with tradition and religion.

No doubts, fundamental beliefs can be a fragile subject. Some conflicts can occur when these values contrast, since our life choices are based on these values and beliefs. The attack on the satiric journal Charlie Hebdo has been really controversial. One thing is sure, both of the parties did not use the most delicate way to express their disaffection towards each other’s beliefs.

Is homeschooling a viable option? That’s a question that has many answers. Lately, the idea of homeschooling has widespread. An article released by the University of Concordia’s newspaper1 has stated that homeschooled students tend to outperform public school students. Homeschooled students have a lot more ease with academic tests. On another view, I believe that learning alone (alone as a student) at home is a big disadvantage on the social life, let me explain why.

The Liberal Party recently won with a majority. Justin Trudeau, the new Prime Minister, has been elected. We might hear about the deficit that the Liberal Party has promised shortly. Indeed, the Liberal Party wants to run deficits for three years. A deficit is a situation in which the amount by which a sum of money falls short of the required or expected money1. So in the case of the Canada, instead of having a balanced budget (that means no debt), we might have a deficit that goes up to $10 billion per year for the three first year.

The Green Party brings big emphasis on the issues of poverty. In fact, their goal is to reach zero poverty. They want to assure that not one individual has to live without food, shelter or medicine. In a matter of fact 1 in 7 Canadians currently live in poverty. Since this is a major issue that needs to be solved, “The Green Party [...] propose[s] a guaranteed livable income for all [which will allow] everyone to live in dignity and be fully included in society,” says Richard Walsh, Green Party Candidate and co-founder of the local action group Alliance Against Poverty.

We are in September 2015. In a few weeks there will be the Canadian elections going on. That means that for now, we see a couple of debates against the leading party leaders. Well those debates took a weird turn. Tom Mulcair, leader of the NDP, accused Steven Harper, actual Prime Minister and leader of the Conservative Party to use the ‘’Niqab controversy’’ to his advantage. Basically, according to CBC News, Tom Mulcair said that Steven Harper is hiding behind the Niqab discussion to avoid dealing with his real issues. Obviously, Steven Harper denied it.

Unfortunately, it is ever so common to hear stories concerning animal cruelty. Whether it is in the form of physical abuse or emotional neglect, these are elements that greatly affect an animal’s mental and physical health. Shockingly, there exists animal abuse towards masses of animals of the same species. Indeed, dolphins are an example of this very statement as they are slaughtered yearly in Japan, earning them a quite lucrative business.

Genius but immigrant or I should say genius but Muslim. Ahmed Mohamed, a fourteen years old boy from Texas, made his own clock. When he came up to his teacher to show him his work, the teacher ended up not reacting as planned. ‘’The teacher thought it was a bomb’’. Why so? Well probably because Ahmed is Muslim. The poor kid has been arrested and suspended for three days. I find it shocking how a little genius gets judged so roughly just because of a religion or a skin color.

Money buys you power, and power buys you respect? That’s not exactly how it works unfortunately for all of you who think you got it all figured out. However, we shouldn’t fall such on the defensive every time a VIP offers funds to an organism.

A few years ago, Canada was never considered a possible contender for winning any medal either it be in the Olympics or Pan-American games. A recent surge of talent has pushed Canada in a very good place to fight for a place on the podium. With the first overall pick in the National Basketball Association in 2013 and 2014 being Canadians also Toronto has become a hub for creating talented basketball players with 7 players living in the greater Toronto area on a NBA roster.

An article published by ABC News, the 26th of July, explains the risks of playing football. The American football is a popular sport in the North America, but there’s debate about the risks of teenagers playing it. That’s what ABC News shows it their article. They pretend that a research in the United States on 100 high schools and 55 colleges (we don’t have much information about that research), found out that 517,726 injuries in the database caused only in a season. That’s incredible! And let’s not forget that there might be even more.

11th February 2015, a group of teenagers apparently having nothing to do chose to fill up that loss of time by pushing themselves on snowbanks. Just for fun they said. Well Chris Chafe, 18 years old, challenged his friends to push him down the snowbank in front of a coming bus. Results, he is not here anymore to talk about it. I'm still trying to find out what went through their minds. How can people have fun pushing other people in the street? We could have expected kids from elementary school to have such thoughts, but in this case the "victim" who would also be guilty, was 18 years old.
