In the movie Somewhere Between (Linda Goldstein Knowlton, 2011) Linda Goldstein Knowlton portrays the life of adoption through the eyes of four teenage girls struggling to know their past. As Haley searches for her parents Linda follows her experience to understand each and every struggle she faces and how she will overcome them, in order to  provide answers for her daughter Ruby who will eventually face the same struggles.

“Five Broken Cameras” by Emad Burnat and Guy Davidi portrayed the cultural effects of the Israeli community trying to acquire land from the Bil’in community without consent of the Bil’in community or Palestine government. With this being the major point of this movie, Emad is able to show how it effects his family and community through a camera lens. And ironically the progress of this movie’s timeline goes on with the years of Emad’s youngest son Gabriel.

For my blog research assignment, I chose an article that had to do with the negative stigma of tattooing. Tattoo recipients have been looked at by many people in society as socially deviant because they are going against the norms by cosmetically adding to their natural body. Tattooing, according to this article, is seen as negative behavior and is done by non-conformists. The article indicates that individuals get tattoos for a number of reasons including religious self-expression and having a feeling of power over one’s self and reflect self-concept.
