In today’s world children fail and just give up. They don’t have someone to encourage them or have someone say it’s going to be okay, you just got to keep trying and you’ll succeed. For example if a children fails a test but they studied really hard for it, they’re going to give up because they saw their best didn’t work, so they think why bother trying anymore. That’s why you see a high rate of kids dropping out of high school and college because no one gives them the support to keep trying when things get rough.

Gabriel Garcia Marquez once said "All human beings have three lives: public, private, and secret.". There is a part of us that we wouldn't mind the world knowing about us and then there is that part of us that we would only want certain people to know about. Then there is this part of us that we keep to ourselves. Unknowingly, the governments, corporations, and other individuals are gathering information about people that they willingly put on their social networks .

In the past week, a radical terrorist group - named Islamic State (or “IS”) - has sent shockwaves around the world. The reason for this, to summarize very briefly, is because the IS - partaking in frequent abductions, ransom negotiations, beheadings, city takeovers, etc. – have threatened Iraq’s socio-political stability, economic security and created a major humanitarian crisis. For obvious reasons, this crisis has sparked an uproar within the International community, which is asking for an imminent intervention from outside countries.

Editorialist Ken Gallinger of the Toronto Star was doing research at his public library (in Toronto) recently when something odd happened – more precisely, he “witnessed something disturbing”. The unusual sight was a woman praying on the floor, comfortably placed on a towel where she repeatedly stood up and bowed for 15 minutes. The practice didn’t really cause any distractions, such as a loud humming or excessive movements, but some were opposed to it because it was done in a public place.

The legalization of marijuana has been an extremely controversial topic for many, many years now. A lot of people would say it’s barely a drug, having many less negative effects than alcohol, and no reported cases of death. However, others would argue that, saying it is a gateway to more serious and addicting drugs. Political leader Justin Trudeau made a statement in August saying that he was not only for decriminalization of marijuana, but also for the legalization and taxation of it.
