More and more in society, we are seeing young people suffering from extreme anxiety, being diagnosed with forms of clinical depression, and, in some cases, even committing suicide. In many of these instances, past sexual relationships are what are at the root of these unfortunate down-ward spirals in young adults. Where is this system going wrong?

Disability rights are a major issue that often get overlooked and needs to be focused on more. People with disabilities have generally been successful in securing federal legislation protecting them from discrimination in all areas of life. However, the modern disability rights movement has struggled enforcing these rights. State laws still discriminate against people with disabilities and often people with mental disabilities. Some of these include family law, voting, commitment proceedings, and the provision of benefits and licenses.

Homelessness is a major social problem that often gets overlooked. It includes many factors such as poverty, lack of affordable housing, uncertain physical and mental health, addictions, and community and family breakdowns. To be homeless means to live without any type of shelter. In today’s world, people are acting out to the problem more by running food shelters and homes for people who aren’t as fortunate as others. To decrease homelessness there needs to be an increase in education.

Effectiveness of alcohol prevention is a big issue that I am interested in and want the public to discuss and act upon in a positive way. National and local governments, and alcohol education aims to increase people’s awareness about all of the harm that could be done by alcohol. They are hoping that people will realize these issues and adjust their attitude and drinking behavior (Janssen 2013, pp.1-2). The first approach is aimed to limit the availability of alcohol and reduce the supply.
