Being seen as beautiful has become an unattainable goal in our society. One of the main causes of why beauty has reached such unattainable standards is photoshopping. Many individuals have shown their hatred towards photoshopping through social media, such as the famous singer Lorde who tweeted, “I find this curious - two photos from today, one edited so my skin is perfect and one real.

Many forms of marketing in the business world have a tendency to cause controversy with their public. More specifically, companies such as Dolce&Gabanna, Guess, and Reebok have attempted to attract attention to their brand  using unethical advertisements. This Reebok advertisement is unethical because it promotes the vices of dishonesty and hatred. It follows virtue ethics considering that it shows creativity while at the same time promoting dishonesty and hatred.

An area where I find it is important to express the fake news behind it is celebrity gossip. Everyday these false news articles come out and it’s all gossip about celebrity’s personal life in which certain people claim they know everything, and without even being certain they do, they publish it for the whole word to see anyways. These individual’s lives are exploited for the entertainment of the general public; often the facts these tabloids claim to have are totally false and ridiculous and only serve to create publicity.

So Halloween is coming soon, everyone is looking for idea what to be. It’s that time of the year, where Halloween shops pops up to sell there ridiculous expensive costume. People in Canada are outraged because some of these shops are selling “indigenous” costumes and they want to the company to stop manufactured these costumes. Which I completely understand why they’re frustrated about this.  I personally think they should stop selling and making those costume, because people will act it out and pretend to be an indigenous person.

An issue in society that has only been growing involves the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) community. The first public battle that I can remember, was fighting for social acceptance for lesbians, gays, and those who are bisexual. The next, was gay marriage. Currently, the social issue that seems to be everywhere is relating to those who are transgender. The issue has grown since those individuals now would like to be able to use the bathroom of their choice. Now I tend to stay away from this social topic, but an article struck my attention and I have now decided to go further into this societal controversy. The article on the Newsweek website, “Denying transgender people bathroom access is linked to suicide,” caught my attention as it probably would anyone. The title caught my attention because of how simply bizarre the idea that bathroom access could ever be linked to suicide rates.

This Gucci ad is the perfect way to demonstrate how society views women as inferior.  The dark colours in the room and on the man contrast with the woman’s bear body. The contrast in colours exposes the female’s body making the ad extremely provocative. We can also see that in this ad the man is seen as superior just like in a patriarchal society. The man’s full body including his head is exposed where as compared to the woman, the ad only exposes her naked body, making it obvious that the man is about to take advantage of her.
