Do happiness and education correlate. Yes, as I presented in my last blog post, they do. This time, I look at what education is and what exactly the definition of happiness is. Of course, both of these topics are very broad, but here are a couple of very brief definitions.

Many people think that having more money leads to happiness? Is that really true?

In early October, the Liberals promised to increase the grant fund that would be provided to post-secondary students. They plan on paying for the grants by scrapping the “targeted education and textbook tax credit.” However, this will only cover the majority of the cost of the grants and not all of it.

In the result of the election, The New Democratic Party, leaded by Tom Mulcair, lost more than half of its seats and ended up third. However, the party defends many interesting political opinions, including a strong opposition against the Bill C-51, the Conservative’s anti-terrorism project.

The Islamic pilgrimage of Hajj is the world’s largest gathering. In 1921, 57 000 people attended Hajj. In 2012, a new record was set as 3.2 million people made the pilgrimage, this number dropped to just over 2 million last year.

If you haven’t already, “Kaner” is being accused of rape by woman near his home town of Buffalo, New York. The woman alleges that the Chicago Blackhawks forward met her in a bar and then took her to his home. The unnamed woman then left Patrick Kane’s home and went straight to the hospital with a friend.   Earlier this week, reports came out that the DNA test results came back negative. That means no trace of Kane’s DNA was found in the woman’s genital area. However, this does not confirm his innocence.

We are in September 2015. In a few weeks there will be the Canadian elections going on. That means that for now, we see a couple of debates against the leading party leaders. Well those debates took a weird turn. Tom Mulcair, leader of the NDP, accused Steven Harper, actual Prime Minister and leader of the Conservative Party to use the ‘’Niqab controversy’’ to his advantage. Basically, according to CBC News, Tom Mulcair said that Steven Harper is hiding behind the Niqab discussion to avoid dealing with his real issues. Obviously, Steven Harper denied it.

Do you know what the difference is between a clock and a bomb? Of course you do! Who doesn’t? Well it seems like a couple of police officers, a teacher and a principal at a high school in Irving, Texas don’t. Ahmed Mohamed is a high school freshman and a brilliant young man who loves to invent. He made a homemade clock and took it to school. At his high school, his English teacher mistook it for a bomb. The teacher later alerted the principal, who then alerted the local police. Four officers came to school and handcuffed Ahmed before taking him away for interrogation.

One of the most the most publicized conflicts of recent years had been the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. On September 13th, the conflict got even worse. The Israeli police say they got reports saying that Muslims barricaded the 3rd holiest site in Islam, the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem, which translates to “The Farthest Mosque”. As the Jewish new year, Rosh Hashanah, approached, some Israelis decided to visit the site they call Temple Mount, otherwise know as Haram al-Sharif (the Noble Sanctuary) in Arabic.

Today early morning, The Apple Inc. announced their new phones, the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus. This, I think, has become a major threat to the Samsung Galaxy S series, since it has many upgrades and some new, very cool, features. They also announced a bigger iPad and an upgraded Apple TV with a new operating system called tvOS. I have been waiting a lot, as a lot of you have, to see the new features the new phone will have and its price as well. That’s why I find this article very satisfying.

You have most likely heard about our ancestors, the Homo erectus and the Homo neanderthalensis. Well now say hello to the new members of the Homo family: the Homo naledi.   Professor Lee Berger and his team made a history altering discovery recently. They discovered a new type of human remains in South Africa. They have found 15 “partial skeletons” of both sexes and of many ages. Prof Berger says the Homo naledi might be the missing link between our more primitive ancestors and modern humans.

Aylan Kurdi. Do you remember that name? It’s been all over the news in the past couple of days. He is the little boy who was washed up the shore of a beach in Turkey. That little boy’s death is the latest display of society’s failure. Aylan and his family were hopeful refugees, who just wanted to get away from all of the horror that is talking place in their native country of Syria caused by the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIS) and by the country’s dictator Bashar Hafez al-Assad.
