Being adopted into a family can be a hard obstacle for some kids to overcome. As a baby, being adopted into a family and being raised by that family makes that person a part of that family. Just because they fit in with their families they still stand out in the American culture.

In this article written by CNN staff on October 15th 2013, a 7.3 magnitude earthquake shook the country of Japan.  It was approximately 200 miles away from Japan, located in the Pacific Ocean. About three billion dollars of damages have been evaluated.  This is not the first time that Japan has had huge natural disasters hit them, making many casualties as well. In 2011, an earthquake with the magnitude of 9.0 hit the Fukushima prefectures, with about 15,000 deaths. This has had a huge impact on the country’s economy since they always have to rebuild.

The term hooking up is defined differently among people. Researchers say that hooking up ranges from kissing to direct intercourse between two people who aren’t dedicated to one another. Everyone has their own interpretation of this word. “hooking up” is referred to some as the activity that has no connection between the two people engaging in it. Hooking up can occur for many reasons, for one it can be the result of depression, along with emotion and difficulties in a steady relationship. Although hooking up can be “fun in the moment” it can be dangerous as well.

This article is about the different styles of parenting and how their children are affected. How a parent treats their child from the time of birth results in how the child will act and behave through out the rest of their adolescent lifetime. The two parenting types that are focused on in this article are authoritative parenting and permissive parenting. Authoritative parenting involves an aggressive parenting style. The parents are usually controlling and overbearing. They use high control tactics with low levels of love and affections.

The article I have chosen talks about the discrimination against tattoos and piercings in the professional workplace. Discrimination can be enforced in a workplace due to their religious beliefs. Sometimes religions believe in different things so when they see obscene piercings or crazy tattoos they highly frown upon it. So the showing off of these is commonly discriminated against. People find this very unfair because the first amendment claims that everyone has the freedom of speech, association, and religion, and equal claims.

This article looks at the many issues that teens experience while making their transition into the complex world of adulthood. It looks at their moods and reactions to things that accrue in their everyday lives such as loss of friendships depression or unbalanced anger. Parents are having trouble distinguishing when these outbursts really begin to take a tool on the Childs life, and when it is necessary to seek sources other than themselves for help.

Dating today has a totally different meaning today than it did 15 years ago. People don’t look for long term partners, or for their future, but for the now. This generation is all about having immediate gratification, not long-term pleasure

The article I have chosen is called “New Approches to End Texting”, this article talks about the dangers of texting and driving. A lot of teens don’t understand the importance of staying concentrated on the road while driving, they hear the buzz from their phone go off and it’s like second nature to them to check it. Some don’t have the will power to keep from looking at it. This article talks about how Penning set up an obstacle to show the hazardous driving that teens produce while being distracted by theirs phones. He states very clearly that while you are driving and are asked a question that your brain tracks off in a way and isn’t fully concentrated on the road. “90% of collisions occur because of cell phone”. I can gather from this article that when you are driving and having a conversation with the passenger you can still be as distracted as if you are texting. There is a new app found on smartphones called “no texting app”, it will automatically send any calls or texts to a voicemail so that you are not distracted in any way behind the wheel. This app can be found almost on any land line. All in all when it comes down to driving and your safety, it is your choice if you decide to pick up the cell phone or not. I found this article to be very eye opening to me, I wasn’t aware that most accidents that happen are due to distractions that can occur in your car. I think this article should be read by every teen learning to drive and those who are currently driving. This article can show them that using the phone can most definitely wait if you are driving, and for those who “can’t help themselves” now have a solution to their problem! They can install the new app that will silence their phones until the car is not in motion. I think that every teen should really look into downloading this app because for many kids and even more adults, this could be the one life saver for them.
