It is known that China has been very strict concerning the amount of children that a Chinese woman can produce. This law is also known as the “One-Child Policy” and recently, it has been “loosened”. In fact, it has been stated in the BBC article named “China reforms: One-child policy to be relaxed “  that in  the future , couples wanting to have more than one child would be able to if one of them was an only child.

In China there is a steady increase in the aging population. There was a law that said that the offspring of parents that are older than 60 should see that their daily, financial and spiritual needs are met. Also the law now requires people to visit or keep in touch with their parents or risk being sued. This is different than the usual culture because the Chinese are raised to take care of their parents when they are old. Yet this is no longer happening because there are a lot more retirement homes that are affordable as well.

The title of the article I will be discussing is from BBC called "UK is Europe's 'addiction capital, says think tank" . Drug abuse cost the UK 36 billion euros a year. The centre for social justice( CSJ) also got mad at the government for not trying to fix the heroin addiction and cheaply available alcohol.  A report showed that last year 52 people in England and Wales died after taking legal highs, up from 28 the previous year.  There are drugs that are labelled as bath salts or research chemicals that are legal as long as it is written on the label "not for human consumption".

With the legalization of marijuana many short and long term effects follow. The content of THC in marijuana has risen drastically over a short time period and could possibly expand. As marijuana becomes more popular and the legalization of recreational and medical marijuana use expands what will happen to communities and societies as a whole?
