In França and Monteiro's (2013) research set out to observe racist or racially-biased behaviours amongst younger and older white children within a group dynamic. In this, we will only be observing the first of two studies in this paper. The hypotheses that the researchers had come up with were that the white children would be more likely to be credited than their black counterparts in general, and that older children are more likely to display egalitarian values than the younger kids when rewarding others where accomplishments were similar.

Ibrahim Mohamad Karkouti’s (2016) study investigated the effect of predominantly White institutions (PWIs) on educational experiences of African Americans students. In previous years over 11,000 international police officers have been deployed in 18 United Nations peace operations. These officers have come from 100 countries. Over a period of time these officers have seen work such as traditional monitoring responsibilities and have started to see more of a broad array of police development and sector reform tasks. For centuries, race was believed to be a legit basis for the social classification of groups. Although it is scientifically proven that race does not exist in the human genome, people still choose to believe it is real. This is due to the fact that " what is defined as real its real in its consequences" according to the Thomas theorem. As stated in class, the dominant group imposes the concept of race because it benefits them. Because of this, people are negatively affected by this social concept.

When people lay their eyes on me, they can clearly see I’m not Caucasian. When I was a kid, I didn’t realize people are curious about my ethnicity background, because during my middle school, half of the students were Asian. Therefore, I would rarely get the question “Where are you from?” since I was born in Canada, until I got to high school. We weren’t really “visibly” diverse, so each time I meet someone new they will ask the question, and I would give them a short and innocent answer “Here”.

When my family and I moved to Quebec from Ontario, I was still a little young to actually care in any way about how a person looked or where they came from, but let’s just say the part of my neighbourhood I grew up in was not very racially diverse. In Elementary School, I was quite obviously part of the visible minority since the school was probably 95% white. But when I joined the High School in the “less favorable” part of my neighbourhood, things started to change.
