According to Browns(2012) preferences determine the type of music people listen to, this in turn has a direct affect on their perspective in social aspects. Browns noted a correlation between the genre and the social outgoing of an individual. Brown discovered that many individuals listened to certain genres exclusively but when exposed to different genres, they enjoyed the different genres. One constant relationship found across multiple countries was that the more open-minded an individual was, the more receptive they were to reflective music, like jazz. Another discovery was that the more energetic music was, the more satisfied the individual was. Brown(2012) concluded that music definitely causes different moods and perspectives changing with the type of genre and it's energy level.
