The article “The one place in Canada where racism is still tolerated: native reserves” by Jonathan Kay in the National Post from September 22nd, 2014 explains that Kahnawake, a native reserve in Quebec, is enforcing a racist law. This law’s goal is to remove any non-native residents who live in the reservation. Kay states that people have left threatening messages to those who refuse to leave. Kahnawake is financed by big public transfer payments, meaning, the Canadian government is funding a racist community.

In their article published in New York Daily News on May 8th, 2014, “Donald Sterling apparently shocked to be called a racist in new secretly recorded conversation,” Nancy Dillon and Larry McShane expose Donald Sterling’s reaction to being accused of discrimination. Sterling, owner of the Los Angeles Clippers, was caught on tape having a conversation in which he puts down people of color, and, at one point, exclusively attacks Magic Johnson. It was understood that he did not appreciate his girlfriend, V. Stiviano, going public about her relations with African-Americans.

The article “Racism Is Canada’s Problem Too – Let’s Talk About It” by Craig and Marc Kielburger on Huffington Post From September 18, 2014 explains that because racism is more of a vocal topic outside of Canada, doesn’t mean it isn’t a huge issue Canadians have to face as well.  Seeing as Canada is supposedly seen as a multicultural country, people often assume racism isn’t/shouldn’t be such a big deal.

When I was a kid I never really had a favourite colour, and I still don't. However I do remember this one time I was in first grade, the teacher had the class do a poll on which colour was better than others. Each child could only vote once. At that time if I had to choose a colour, I’d say that I preferred blue more than others.
