Cannabis in Canada is increasingly a highly taboo topic for politicians in Canada. However, the public seem to be integrating towards a pro-marijuana stance, whether legalization or decriminalization. The topic is very sensitive because of the lack of scientific research on the long term effects. Moreover, the scientific research that has been found often conflicts with other research. For example, some studies have concluded that marijuana smoke can cause lung cancer, while others claim that it has no negative effects at all to the lungs (Simon).
