For my blog research assignment, I chose an article that had to do with the negative stigma of tattooing. Tattoo recipients have been looked at by many people in society as socially deviant because they are going against the norms by cosmetically adding to their natural body. Tattooing, according to this article, is seen as negative behavior and is done by non-conformists. The article indicates that individuals get tattoos for a number of reasons including religious self-expression and having a feeling of power over one’s self and reflect self-concept.

In Douglas A. Gentile’s article on The Effects of Violent Video Games on Adolescent Hostility, Aggressive Behaviors, and School Performance, he proposes the debatable question if video games these days are having a negative effect on our children. Statistics show that children exposed to a greater number of video games experience more hostile tendencies, get into arguments, and do poorly in school. It is hard to tell if the negative effects are based on the violence itself or the fact that video games are displacing time that could be used on school activities.

It has only been a few years that homosexuality is legalized in Russia, more specifically in 1991. Obviously, there are still people in Russia who think homosexuality is wrong and that it is a mental problem. Some Russians even think homosexuals should be prosecuted; therefore, according to them, homosexuality should be abolished.

In the news article ‘’ Europe’s Invisible Children’’, written by Sabine Clappaert in the Inter Press Service, brings up an issue about illegal children immigrants in Spain. Originating in majority from Iraq, Hungary, Romania, Afghanistan and Turkey, those children had little choice but to come to Spain hoping for a better lifestyle. Some of the immigrants come along with their families, some fled their homeland alone.
