  In his article Why Mandatory Voting is a Good Fit, Andrew Coyne insists that mandatory voting is one easy, cost-effective way to improve our democracy. And since not every eligible voter goes to the poll to vote (in the 2015 federal elections the turnout reached 68%), the vote results are not representative of the whole population.

Euthanasia still causes great debate in today’s society. Euthanasia occurs when a patient intentionally wants to end their life because they are suffering, ill or have a chronic disease that they can no longer stand living with. As of 2015, Canada has ruled in favor of doctor-assisted suicide for certain cases. In earlier years, patients had only one option; to continue living. Now, patients are indirectly asked if they wish to live or die.

In the article “A Comparison of Attitudes Toward Euthanasia Among Medical Students at Two Polish Universities”, written by Leppert, Wojciech, et al. in 2013, the researchers tried to demonstrate how young adults viewed the ethical issue surrounding euthanasia and assisted suicide. They surveyed over 500 students from two universities in Poland to see if the younger generation was more in favor or against the practice of euthanasia and assisted suicide for incurable diseases.
