Abstract: After a rise in use of bicycles, some countries in the world have noticed how safety for cyclist can be improved. This paper looks at one of these countries, Netherlands, and how the public reacted to it and the safety it brought with it. It then looks at Australia, where they made a similar system and analysed how it impacted health. Finally, this paper will look at how a similar system would impact Montreal and if it would work out.

On a sunny afternoon sitting in a Starbucks drinking the darkest coffee I asked myself why did I chose to get mobilized for the Aboriginals? The answer is as simple as the question: because if I don’t care then we have to assume nobody will!

I care about the topic of drug-free treatment for mental illness because I strongly believe that it should be encouraged around the world. I’ve seen people in my life that are close to me suffer from mental disorders and the horrible side effects they had to go through while taking pharmaceuticals and visiting doctors every week. I care about it even more than I did before because I know a lot more about it now. In order to get my results, I read and analyzed specific chapters from 3 different novels that I found the most relevant to my topic.

How often do we go see a movie with a strong female lead that we wouldn’t lump into the category of “chick-flick”? Even scarcer is a movie with a person of color in the lead role when the movie isn’t about that person’s skin color. Most films are predominantly white male characters. This typically leads to a very stereotyped version of the remaining types of people being represented. This is unfortunate for a number of reasons. More and more schools are implementing lessons based on films.

Taking a look at how religious discord within families affects the quality of relationship between parents and young children. Research suggests that higher religious discord correlates with a lower quality relationship. From my experience I have found this to be true.

One of the most controversial issues in modern society is the dispute between a woman’s right to have control over her body and the right of an unborn fetus to life. While proponents for both sides argue, and the media documents this political battle, it is vital that citizens are educated on the history of this movement. Williams’ article, “No Happy Medium,” achieves that through well researched evidence.

The issue that I have been talking about lately that has been in the news, are civil rights. The forst article that I wrote about which was related to civil rights was the General Motors callbacks on their products. Then I referred to a civil rights activist and consumer protector named Ralph Nader who works for people who are victim of this. The other summary  which talks about civil rights is an article that was published in the Montreal Gazette was about a girl who was denied the right to vote even though she had been living in Quebec for more than six months.

In the article that was published in the Montreal Gazette this week, the article talks about a Law student from McGill University who was denied access to vote because she was not a registered citizen from Quebec. The young McGill student had moved out to Montreal in 2011, she was allowed to vote at the 2012 provincial elections because according to the code, to be able to vote in Quebec, you need to of have been living in Quebec for at least 6 months, this young girl, had left for a year to go work in Berlin where she taught French and English.

In the article that I chose to read, the authors talk about the health care reform and the individual rights. The author talks about these cases because lately the health form has been reduced to the population to whom it is serving. (Bhatia, 37) The postwar development decided to stop servicing the populations that came from those industrialised places, hense these people do not have access to the health care reform. (Bhatia, 38) During the 1980s, during the lections, the candidates were asked many questions regarding the money being spent in the health care system.

The article that I chose mainly focused on bullying in Irish school systems and how cyberbullying is a new obstacle for school management and conducted research on how they can begin to put policies in place to help prevent cyberbullying. The article mentions how since the 1970’s research data has been collected and since then there has been a lot of data taken in regards to individual differences and aggression held toward defining features and sub-types. More importantly this data is being used to determine methods on how to help get rid of bullying and even cyberbullying for good.

The video I just watched called "Embrace the Shake" by Phil Hansen talks about his passion for art until his hands start shaking preventing him from doing the art he loves. His doctor diagnosed it as permanent never damaged and simply told Phil to just imbrace it.

The issue of gay rights in our society has become a pressing matter in the past several years as the LGBT community fights to gain ground in the world. However, opponents of gay marriage continue to strike back, finding new ways to oppose the rights of this minority group of people. This article addresses arguments against gay marriage and provides discussion on why these hold little power in the fight for equality.

February 17th 2014 Ending the Death Penalty by Dale. S  Recinella Is the death penalty necessary? After 1976, when the death penalty was reinstated, innocent people were wrongly convicted (Recinella, 2008, p.12). According to many churches, if there is no other way to protect innocent law-abiding citizens the death penalty shall be used (Recinella, 2008, p. 13). I believe that the death penalty is ineffective.

The rate of successful marriage has declined over the years and many don't know why. Could observing gay and lesbian marriages help us understand why straight marriages are failing and help stop the rate of divorce?

Have you’ve ever bought a product and had many problems with it? A problem with your cellphone, baby seat or even a car? Then you probably bought a product that got what you call a recall. A recall is when you purchase a product and it’s not well built and if the problem isn’t fixed, then it can lead to serious problems. Some of these recalls were done once people had to suffer the consequence of the bad product which is injury and even death. The recalls that I will be talking about are car recalls.

From time to time, we see something so shocking and awful that we wonder what our generation has become. We see a million things, from stories we hear to events that happen that are outrageous. Well this week a new app on itunes and google play targeting little girls was created. The purpose of this app was to perform plastic surgery on models. This created a major wake up call to multiple people across the world.
