I think that the man box can be portrayed differently if there wasn’t the outs side of the box consequences. I don’t agree with all the different things that the inside of the man box contains but there are a few that should be taught to younger boys. In my opinion they should be courageous and should be able to be a leader, and in control. It’s just how we teach younger boys to become these male ideals. Violence is not a necessary way to show that one is strong or tough.

            The article “The implicit racism in Ebola tragedy” by Robin Wright on the CNN website published on October 9, 2014 talks about how the Ebola Virus has caused some racism toward people of color in the United-States. It is said in the article that in both Europe and the United-States Ebola has been a cause of racial profiling. It was reported that in Dallas some kids, because of their skin color or heritage, were being called “Ebola Kids”.

In the article “Company Sells Native American Headdress, Says It’s Not Racist In The Worst Way Possible”, in Huffington Post, by an anonymous author, on October 1st, the reader is introduced to the DollsKill Company, new Halloween costumes. Like many other companies, the author argues, some of their apparel falls under the cultural appropriation. The disturbing costume in question is a fringed feather headpiece, which is made to portray an Aboriginal person in traditional attire. An anonymous email was sent to call out the blatant racism.

In April, Donald Sterling, owner of the Los Angeles Clippers and millionaire business man told his girlfriend that she was embarrassing him by posing on Instagram with a black man. He then told her that she shamed him by bringing “black” people to the basketball games of the teams he owned.

The proposal written by the school board said that they wanted students to be taught respect for authority and that they should not disobey the authority as well, Jefferson County wants their students to see America in a more positive light.
