The issue in the news that I’ve been writing about and plan to do my essay on is the stigma around mental health, how drug-free treatment (such as counseling and group therapy) is more effective than pharmaceutical treatment, and how these two topics have a connection. College students always have to deal with some sort of stress, whether it deals with schoolwork, final exams, personal life, etc. Most students find ways to cope with the stress like finding new hobbies, exercising and contributing to other activities. However, studies have shown that with high stress levels in college students, also comes with high usage of prescription drugs and illicit drugs to deal with it.
