The Advantages of Soccer
In Memmort’s and Harveys’ article, Identification of Non-Specific Tactical Tasks in Invasion Games, they give us a clear glimpse to the advantages of playing soccer. After many tests, we see the change in the six tactical core workouts, and the seven different types of situations you’re in while playing soccer. Being an avid soccer player in high school, I have always been bothered by people’s lack of respect to the sport. All around the world soccer players are looked at as God-like figures and role models. In the U.S. however, we get picked on, mocked, and laughed at for playing our sport. I just find this to be completely disrespectful to the players and the sport. Names were called such as “grass-fairies”, “foot-fairies”, “shin-kickers” and the most offensive being “faggots”.
