Bruce Springsteen in Support of Gay Marriage

Bruce Springsteen has always been an advocate for LGBT rights, but he has recently decided to go farther and star in new social media to convey his feelings about it. The Four 2012 has started a new campaign that is focusing on the Maryland, Maine, and Minnesota same-sex marriage ballot. Springsteen is the poster boy for them. Just recently, there has been a poster circulating with him on the cover and his quote, “The marriage-equality should be recognized for what it truly is-a civil rights issue that must be approved to assure that every citizen is treated equally under the law. I couldn't agree more with that statement and urge those who support equal treatment for our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters to let their voices be heard now."
The action could be even bigger if The Four 2012 partnered up with other LGBT organizations, so it can be spread across the United States as well as the world faster. One of the positives about this action is getting celebrities involved in the campaign because people tend to relate to them. Bruce Springsteen is known among the older generation, therefore the traditionalists about marriage who are Springsteen fans might think twice about their stand on gay marriage. They might realize if he says it’s ok then maybe I should too. The negatives would be that The Four 2012 could expand on the different celebrities who participate in their campaign. They should target different age groups, but especially they younger generation because they are the future voters in the United States. If the younger generation is demanding change, the politicians running for office might oblige to change their stand on gay marriage and favor the majority. Different countries can also participate in this campaign by having their celebrities join the movement. They can set up their own campaign that is for gay marriage to get the public involved by thinking how they feel about this topic. I could increase the awareness of the campaign that The Four 2012 is doing. Even though New York already legalized gay marriage, my community could show their support for the campaign by holding their own rallies by promoting gay marriage.
