My summary: Unfortunately, eating disorders is strongly increasing in Canada’s population today. Several individuals are suffering from this illness in different ways. An individual can truly not eat enough food, or, other individuals can overeat food. This is extremely unhealthy for their bodies because it can lead to dangerous conditions that their bodies can’t control anymore. This disorder can destroy their lives and this situation could certainly lead to death. Statistics prove that over 150,000 to more than 600,00 individuals are affected by eating disorders. This number is extremely immense. Furthermore, people are struggling to find treatment in Canada and this is affecting other countries too. According to the National Initiative Eating Disorders organization, they claim that eating disorders have the maximum mortality rate of any mental disorder. Doctors explain how individuals must receive help and support from another person. If they don’t take action and cure this illness, it can definitely get worse. The main eating disorder that people are encountering is anorexia. Anorexia is when an individual lacks nutrition in their systems. They are starving themselves because they believe that their bodies are overweight. This dynamic is extremely dangerous because every individual shouldn’t go through this awful process. Their bodies need to obtain all of their vitamins and nutritional foods to allow themselves to grow. Their bodies need to develop in a healthy perspective.

I found it astonishing that over 150,000 to more than 600,000 people are affected by this terrible disease. I agree with this article when it states that more help needs to be out there in Canada in order to help these people that are facing this deadly disorder.

I agree with the article that eating disorders have the maximum mortality rate of any mental disorder. I was very surprised that 150,000 - 600,000 people are affected by eating disorders. I think that one of the main causes of eating disorders, is media portraying the 'perfect' body in which society excepts every girl to have, so girls starve themselves, therefore eating disorders are on the rise.
