Population Growth and decline is a issue of huge concern that the world will have to face. In the article by scientific American, The DESA are predicting anywhere from 6.8 billion people to 16.1 billion people living on this planet in 2100. The developing world is where most of this growth is expected with the developed world staying the same in terms of population numbers. There is also uncertainty if the populations of these countries will start to have to have a decline in fertility rate due to increasing standards of living. The DESA is also expecting the arrival of other very large countries with Nigeria expected to contest with China and India. They ended by talking about the fact that life expectancy is expected to go up in developing countries.
