Gabrielle Chanel also called Coco Chanel is a true inspiration for all women. She is known today as being a talented and creative French Fashion designer. She was the first woman to change the world of fashion and her net worth today would be around 15 billion dollars. She did not have a normal childhood and had to work hard and sacrificed a lot in order to be the person she is known for today. Her mother’s death from bronchitis and her father placing her afterwards in a shelter at the age of twelve had her to never give up.

“If you were born without wings, do nothing to prevent them from growing.” –Coco Chanel

She learned how to sew during her six years living at the Aubazine shelter and later on met Balsan Captain Arthur Edward who helped her open a hat shop and promised Coco to give her financial support. She opened her first hat boutique in 1910 called Chanel Modes on 21 Cambon in Paris and was very successful. Soon enough, Coco Chanel wanted to create her own line of women’s clothing. However, she couldn’t since she didn’t have a license but that didn’t stop her. She started creating dresses and asked her aunt and sister to  model in her new hand-made dresses. She was in fact the first woman to create women tracksuits and cut her hair boy short. She thought that boy short hair was easier to take care of. Soon after in 1917, short hair for women quickly became a trend and broke the stereotype that women had to have long hair. Coco Chanel later on created a perfume collection and was the first women to use the color black as clothing. She was in fact known for her famous “little black dress” and its designed length was above the knees.

“A girl should be two things: Classy and fabulous.” –Coco Chanel

Coco Chanel is still a very famous woman today and people from all over the world buys her fashionable clothing, perfumes and accessories. I believe she is one remarkable woman who influenced not only the fashion industry but proved to all women that anything is possible with hard work and perseverance.  She has shown true dedication and passion for what she believed and let no men or anyone dictate what she couldn’t do. I think this is an important message for everyone out there and especially women where she demonstrated that even a woman can influence the world.

“In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different.” –Coco Chanel
