White is the new Black

From the article: "A white man is playing Michael Jackson in a TV movie and the Internet is angry" by Justin WM. Moyer it was stated that an American actor: Joseph Fiennes, is going to play the role of Michael Jackson in a movie for British Television. The article explains how people on the internet were angry and horrified because of that. A lot of hateful responses were written on twitter that critiqued how wrong it was to take a white actor and play the role of the "King of Pop". People also made a link to the Academy awards that had place in the year 2015, when once again there were no colored people in the top 20 nominated for the awards. Fiennes tried to defend himself by explaining that due to Michael`s skin condition (white pigmentation), the color of the skin was as close to as "his"(the actors) towards the end of his life. Fiennes also said that it would endorse diversity.
I found this issue most troublesome and closer to me, because first of all, I am a fan of Michael Jackson and second of all, I recently uncovered a lot on his story and made some links to my own life experience. I understood how Michael was a great man, who wanted to make most of the children happy, while he tried to do his project, a lot of other people (mostly the children’s parents) tried to take advantage from him. They were filing charges against Michael, over and over again to get money from him. I also made some links toward my own experience, because I had my own problems with people in the past. I got rejected and bullied and I didn`t have a lot of friends, but I would find ways to overcome this. Still I was and still am proud of what I am and what I have become, I would never want someone to alter me as I am, even for the purpose of diversity or simplicity in a movie. Michael was suffering from his skin disease, but as he said in his interview, while he was next to Oprah: "I’m a black American. I’m proud to be a black American. I am proud of my race. I am proud of who I am. I have a lot of pride in who I am and dignity".
As a fan and as a human being who doesn`t want his identity altered, I believe that Michael deserves to be showed as he was and as he would`ve liked to be perceives. Therefore I think that the best way to change this injustice would be to start a petition to the British Television, so that they either change their policy or just change the actor for someone who would look and represent Jackson as he was!
