College Scandals Impact

During the process of applying to college, students are greatly influenced by the media. One thing specifically that has been studied is the effect that media coverage of college scandals has on the amount of applications that particular school will receive the next year. Too much surprise a significant decline in applications was recorded. When negative information comes into the limelight, students are going to pay attention. Access to the media is literally at student’s fingertips. When students receive this kind of information they are very responsive

Implicit racism in children

In França and Monteiro's (2013) research set out to observe racist or racially-biased behaviours amongst younger and older white children within a group dynamic. In this, we will only be observing the first of two studies in this paper. The hypotheses that the researchers had come up with were that the white children would be more likely to be credited than their black counterparts in general, and that older children are more likely to display egalitarian values than the younger kids when rewarding others where accomplishments were similar.

Thoughts for vaccinating a child

Most people are very familiar with vaccinations; whether they have children that were vaccinated at birth, they remember themselves vaccinated or someone they know being vaccinated. It is a typical that the majority of people have received vaccines because, this is what we have been taught to be the best practice. There have been many requirements throughout the world, requiring students to be vaccinated to attend school.

Fraudulent Foundations

People donate money to different medical foundations in hopes to raise awareness and further research. Many people do this to help ill patients, in memory of someone who they have known that passed from the sickness or to do what they think is a kind act of good heartedness. In recent years, some foundations have been found to be fraudulent. This means that they are advertising for people to donate money to their fictional foundation. Then when donations are made, the money is not going to a foundation but into the con artists’ pockets. Rebecca R.

The Effects of Racism on Youths

Patcher, Bernstein, Szalacha and Coll’s (2010) study investigated at which frequency children see or are in presence of racism. The hypothesis of this study was that racism could have negative impacts on the health and development of a child, but also on his emotional and psychological reactions.

Experiences of Racism Among African American Parents and the Mental Health of Their Preschool-Aged Children

Caughy, O’Campo and Muntaner’s (2004) study observed the relationship between how African American parents experienced racism and on how was their preschooler children’s mental health. The authors also examined the influence of the families’ neighborhoods on the two other variables named above. The authors hypothesized that the African-American parents’ experience of racism and how they responded to it had an effect on their children’s development and mental health. They also wanted to study if the neighborhood’s conditions had any influence on the other variables.

Kids got the Wrong Books?

Amina Chaudhri and William H. Teale did a study called “Stories of Multiracial Experiences in Literature for Children, Ages 9–14” (2013) and the study wanted to see stories of multiracial experiences in literature for children. The study is looking for racial discrimination in books that children read (9- 14 years old), the studied books for children that are based on a multiracial main character. The study starts by showing that literature is a tool for people and kids in order to build an identity, which is most important for children.
