Carolin Touzin wrote an article entitled “ 13 Reasons Why: une série «dangereuse» pour les ados dépressifs”. It’s been over a month since 13 Reasons Why, a teen drama focused on a teenage girl’s suicide, made its debut on Netflix, but the discussion around the series does not seem to quiet down. In fact, many learning establishments and specialists in suicide prevention are worried that the show might present an alternative solution to anyone going through difficult times or even worsen the state mind of youth already in treatment for mental illnesses.



Advertisements are very widespread now. Everyone sees one at least once a day. However, some advertisements may cause uproar because they may seem offensive.  There are some ads like the Dove ad for skin products that seem racist because of the arrangement of the women in the picture. Race in the media is rarely portrayed as beautiful because it does not t meet the requirements of the existing and historical cultural “beauty standards”.

The Washington Post reports that on March 12th 2017, a convenience store owned by Indian brothers was set on fire in what the County Sheriff’s office has declared a hate crime. The perpetrator, a man from Florida assumed the owners were Muslim and wanted to “run the Arabs out of [the] country” due to his presumption that they had affiliations with ISIS (Doward, 2015).

A lot of people may think that it is the easiest job a journalist could ask for, but it takes a lot of preparation and work to perform well when the camera turns on. The anchorman will need to prepare himself and follow these six steps: watch the news but also read the news, practice speaking aloud, record himself, learn to read from distance and avoid speaking with familiar language and the using of words such as “ch”, “and” and “uh”.
