Women in Politics

If you’re a woman who is interested in politics and who wants to access the field, Equal Vote has a great volunteering opportunity for you!

Indeed, Equal Voice, founded in 2001, is a national organization that wishes to make possible the election of more women in Canada at any political level. They are fighting for equal distribution of men and women in the parliament of Canada. They are hoping for that to happen at both provincial and municipal level.

Now, they suggest a very good volunteering opportunity for the women interested. For women to learn more about the core of politics, they suggest volunteering for an electoral campaign. By visiting the campaign of your choice (more likely near where you live), you will get to help the visibility of the campaign. You will be encouraged to put up posters, knock on doors, distribute flyers, call potential voters, attend political events and organize events, such as fundraiser.

To learn more about that opportunity, you can visit their online campaign school www.gettingtothegate.com. You can also visit the Equal Vote’s website https://www.equalvoice.ca/takeaction.cfm to learn more and e-mail them at info@equalvoice.ca or call at 613.236.0302 to take action!

Equal Voice organized a program that permitted to young adult women to seat at the House of Commons today (March 8, 2017). It permitted women to actively learn more about politics and promoted women’s participation too! I definitely agree that this program is something great for women looking to get into politics at any political level and it shows a respectable initiative from this group to try and carve a pathway that may lead to bigger things for women in politics. Definitely something to look out for if you're a women interested in politics!
