A bomb from the past

Today, a World War II U.S made the bomb was found under a gas station in the city of Thessaloniki, Greece. It all started at 7 a.m. when police officers went from door to door to help evacuate 70000 people from their home for their safety. During the evacuation, some people left by cars, others left by buses or school buses to make sure they are safe. However, some of them had to walk away from the area like Alexander Bogdani, who said " We are afraid for the child," and his wife, Anna Bokonozi, who walked with their child away from the area to make sure they are safe with their child. The bomb that was dropped in Greece around the year of 1944, this was recalled by one of the survivals Giorgos Gerasimou, was "badly corroded, but its detonation mechanism was still in very good condition," said Army Spokesman Col. Nikos Fanios. The defusing process of the bomb started at 11:30 a.m. and was successfully defused in 30 minutes. In the end, the bomb was taken to a firing range where it will be either detonated or dismantled.

That bomb that was found today in Greece was not the only bomb that was found and successfully defused or detonated. A year or more ago, another bomb was found in Greece, but the bomb was in an open area, and because of that, the authority did not have to evacuate anyone. However, in 2015 and 2016, two bombs were found in both Germany and London. Both of those bombs were either detonated or defused, but in both cases, people had to evacuate for their safety.

As a person that lives in Canada, where World War II bombs were not dropped, I can understand the things that come to a person's mind when he must evacuate from an area because of danger. Before coming to Canada, I lived in Israel, a small country in the middle east. At that time, Israel was targeted by terrorist organization every day. There was a situation the I remember every day, that situation was when I was ten years old, every day, my family and I, we had to hide under the stairs, because it was the safest place in a building, from small bombs that were lunched into Israel. Dangerous situations like the bombs that were found in these locations can be hard to forget, but at the end, it's nice to hear that people were not hurt.
