I want to consider about Global Warming now. Today, it is a very serious problem all over the world. I’m very worried about it. When we become an adult, what condition will the earth will be in? The problems are, for example, the melting of the ice in the Arctic Ocean, the worry about sinking island countries into the ocean, increasing germs and harmful insects from the tropics that cause the disease to human beings and the disturbance of the growth of farm products, the temperature rise of recent years, and the others.

2020 Olympic decided to hold in Tokyo. I am so glad of the fact. However, I did not think much of it first because I thought that there was a thing which should take first priority. It is the temporary houses. Do you know the difference between the temporary house and the Olympic village? It is very terrible problem. People who are pleased may forget about East Japan Earthquake. The victims still suffer without being able to go their home. On the other hand, the Olympic village is very gorgeous.

I’m going to talk about global warming. Recently, unusual weather has been happening all over the world. I read one article, ”Effects will become more obvious as Japan ‘s climate changes”. According to the article, “annual average air temperatures nationwide rose by a rate equivalent to 1.15°C per century between 1898 and 2010. This is considerably higher than the global average temperature rise of 0.74°C over the last century”. It is the dangerous condition. Why did the earth change so? It was influenced by greenhouse gas, which includes carbon dioxide and methane gas.

In previous Japan society, there are terrible problems. One problem is called as fewer children society on the other hand is called as aging society. The causes of each problem are not same but each problem will cause to break Japanese society in the future.

The world is excited at the World Cup now. The FIFA World Cup often simply called the World Cup. It is an international association football competition contested by Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the sport's global governing body. The championship has been awarded every four years since the inaugural tournament in 1930, except in 1942 and 1946 when it was not held because of the Second World War. The current champions are Spain who won the 2010 tournament in South Africa. The 19 World Cup tournaments have been won by eight different national teams.

The "aging society" is one of a variety of problems faced by Japanese society. Japan has a serious aging problem. Because, Japan has entered in the "super-aging society" that exceed the aging society now. Elderly of Japan (more 65 years) population reached 27 million people. Japan is supporting the elderly and one in four people in Japan are elderly. 25 years later it has been predicted that about one-third of the entire nation will be elderly. Japan is the world's superpower of the elderly. So, Japan must find a solution to this problem. I think about what Japan should be.

Do you know that the earth is in a seriously poor condition? The earth is suffering from warming now. We should know about the earth. And we should know about the sun. I think that the global warming is a scream of the earth. What can we do? And, what is the cause of global warming? Do we have any good ways to improve it? I know global warming, but I do not know very much about global warming. So as for this report, it has a meaning for me very much.

Global warming is a serious problem in this world. There are several reasons that it’s a problem and all of them are because it’s destroying the earth’s nation. This problem is really serious but some country don’t do anything or don’t try to help to reduce the damage of global warming. If global warming continues gradually the earth will be weaker and weaker. I want to explain what the main problem is, and what we should do to prevent global warming.

There have been many articles about the subject “climate change” and we learn it in school, but at present, there has been hardly any change in the way we behave in our daily lives. Politicians have one discussion after another, however hardly any action is made. In the following, I would like to write about what Global Warming is, what the future looks like if we don’t change anything and finally, what we can do to help reduce factors leading to Global Warming.

TPP

HI I don't know (;))

Your paper was really interesting to read. You said that 14.8% of the people living in poverty would profit from the TPP, but that the small farmers would suffer from it. I think most people in poverty living in developing countries are people who couldn't succeed with their farming and were not able to get a good education because of the lack of money and the need to work even as a child to support the family. I think the TPP will only result in more people being poor, as if the small farmers are getting pushed out of the market by foreign goods, how will the people in poverty get a job to pay for the cheap food?

I agree with you about the environment, there should be an agreement to do the transport as green as possible, actually ot only for the TPP but in general, still, I believe the main focus for these politicians will be how to make the most money, no matter whether everything around us is telling us, that we are wrecking our environment.

I think you are right with the protection of jobs and environment, but I think the first step that would ease the public's mind would be for the contract to be shown to the world. There is so little information about it and it is not sure how reliable they are. The US and other nations are supposed to have a democracy, but a secretly made contract affecting so many people can hardly be called democratic. In an newspaper article it was said that the US is part of the TPP because China is economically raising. Do you believe so, too?

I agree with you that it is important to discuss and that those meetings are certainly not easy. However, these politicians are not showing any information with the public, so it will be difficult to say how it will turn out. Most politicians will probably just try to get the economically best contract for their country. I also have still to learn a lot about the TPP and will try to follow the news.

I might have not expressed myself so clearly, but I don't think very well of the TPP. I think as they don't show the public what the TPP exactly is, it makes me think that not much good will come out of it. Even if I tried to find some good aspects in it, the secrecy with which they decide over the heads of thousands of people, who will be affected by this contract the most, makes me uncomfortable and also a bit angry. We only know little of it, as someone was able to leak some information about it. My paper doesn't show anything useful, it is just a collection of the bits and pieces from newspapers, so the best way to learn about it, is to follow the news I guess. As for Japan, there will be positive and negative effects like in the other countries, but as far as I have learnt, it will mostly be the already rich people who will profit and if wildlife and environment was their concern, they could do a separate agreement. For example the way that many countries are still not willing to reduce their CO2 exhaust into the air lets me doubt whether this part of the contract will be making any changes.

Hello!
I still don’t have good English skills, so it was very difficult to understand. However, I know what you are telling readers. Japan already participated in TPP. Many Japanese famers against to join it, but the government didn’t listened to them. In my opinion, I think the government should hear the opinions of citizens. Imported food is cheap, but I think maybe it’s dangerous, because probably there are contaminants mixed in food.

Thank you for your comment. You said that “We think that they have people in there that will turn to terrorists once they come in the country and that is why people do not tend to accept the fact that people want to come in the country with open arms.” I agree with your opinion. If my country accept many refugees from Syria, I’m scared of the refugees because of the reason.

Thank you for your comment. I didn’t know much about Canada, so of course I didn’t know that Canada has two official languages. I think the law is very unique. I have never learned French, so I don’t know how difficult to study it. However, I think many refugees will study it if they are accepted to settle in Quebec. I think maybe your country is the best place for refugees. Thank you for your suggestion. I will read the two articles.

Thank you for your comment. It was very difficult for me to research this topic and to tell my opinion for it. I was worried about my English, but it seems that you are understanding what I want to say. That’s why I’m really happy. I didn’t know that Canada will experience a great boost of Syrian refugees this year. I think Canada is the best country for refugees.

Hi lpierce, this is Shiina. I'm a student of University in Japan, and I'm learning English now.
BTW I read your paper, and your ideal world is pretty interesting for me. I'm going to go to America on this February, so it is good to listen to American something opinion. Thank you.

Hello, Ben Maksym! Thank you for your comment.
7586 refugees applied for recognition of refugee status, but only 27 people were authorized in last year. The reason why they choose Japan is that Japan is a safe country. There are 6 Afghans, 3 Syrian, 3 Ethiopians, and refugees from other countries are included in it. America and other countries accept lots of refugees. I think Japan also should accept more refugees, even though it is difficult.

Hello, gfastie! Thank you for your comment.
Actually, I have never thought about US imperialism.
I think it is one of factors, too. I don’t know about economic in detail, but it is fact that Japan is certainly at disadvantage. It is very difficult problem for Japan.
I hope Japan will be able to get along with US…
