Japanese Movie

Have you ever watched the movie “Spiritual Away”? In the middle of her family's move to the suburbs, a sullen 10-year-old girl wanders into a world ruled by gods, witches, and monsters; where humans are changed into beasts. This is one of my favorite movies. What about “My Neighbor Totoro”? When two girls move to the country to be near their ailing mother, they have adventures with the wonderous forest spirits who live nearby. Both of these are produced by Hayao Miyazaki, Japanese film director. He founded “Studio Ghibli” which is best known for its anime future films, and has also produced several short films, television commercials, and one television film. Today I”ll introduce you my favorite Ghibli movie. Some of you may already knew this movie, “Porco Rosso” a.k.a. “Kurenai no Buta”.

Porco Rosso is a 1992 Japanese animated film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki. The plot revolves around an Italian WWⅠ ex-fighter ace, now living as a freelance bounty hunter chasing "air pirates" in the Adriatic Sea. However, an unusual curse has transformed him to an anthropomorphic pig; he is now known to the world as "Porco Rosso", Italian for "Red Pig". Hayao Miyazaki tried to describe “a hunky guy” through Porco Rosso. While most of Ghibli movies made for kid’s anime, Porco Rosso aim middle-age men who is tired out of their job or life and shut off their brain. Porco Rosso was born in 1892 and is 36 years old, so he is also middle-age man.

The film was originally planned as a short in-flight film for Japan Airlines based on Hayao Miyazaki's manga The Age of the Flying Boat, but grew into a feature-length film. The outbreak of war in Yugoslavia cast a shadow over production and prompted a more serious tone for the film, which had been set in Croatia. The airline remained a major investor in the film, and showed it as an in-flight film well before its theatrical release.

If you are middle-age man who tired out of your life, try to refresh your brain by watching this movie which I strongly recommend. If you are still young men, watch this movie for your future coming soon and be prepared for the fight! If you are lady, just relax and enjoy this movie with some snacks. You may fall in love with Porco rosso.

We wrote comment for you but our opinions separates.
First is Shiina. Second is Atsushi. Finally, Yasuhide wrote comment.
I watched your article so I would like to write about my comment. Ghible is my best movie company so I could sympathize with your article. I’m interested in your article, especially “Porco Rosso” was planned as a short film originally. I was surprised by this passage because I didn’t know it. In fact this movie is written about an airplane in detail.
Incidentally my favorite Ghible’s movie is “The Wind Rises”, I think it is very deep and great.
Shiina said “I have already watched this movie and this is my favorite movie” but I have never watched it yet. I want to movie this when I have enough time. By the way, I have two favorite movies of Ghible. First is “Mimiwosumaseba”. When I watched this movie, my heart was moved because this is very good story. Second is “cats return” I often watch this movie so I recommend it. If you watch this movie, you will be happy and clam because this movie has happy ending. If you have a time, please watch it. Thank you.
My name is Yasu. I was surprised topic about “Porco Rosso” We became being interested in this movie. I could enjoy your article. Thank you.
