Final Project

I'm still undecided as to whether I'll be doing an academic paper or a volunteer opportunity. I will most likely be doing an academic paper if no volunteer opportunity pops up as there are rather few related to crime and law. I would like to base my paper on these three aspects: technology, privacy and human rights. All of these will relate to crime and law. I chose all of these because they can be easily engaged with crime and law, not to mention I have already written a lot of works concerning these subjects.

One article that links to my subject is this article. It’s about a hacker that starts helping others with security after realizing what he was doing was bad. That article has to do with all three disciplines and I will be relating them all to crime and law.

Privacy has been of growing interest over the past few decades. However, it has been less and less cared for as the years went by. This is all because of the advancement of technology. It has been the major cause for the lack of privacy issues in the world that we know today. Some sources that I will be using for this essay are on the pages 64-68 of the 12th issue of Engineering and Technology, pages 105-107 of the 1st issue of the Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy and on page 13 of the 3rd issue of Engineering and Technology. Some of the articles that inspired me to post about privacy are “Poll finds strong acceptance for Public Surveillance” by Mark Landler and Dalia Sussman on April 30th, 2013 and “Wearing Video Cameras, for Police Officers” by Randall Stross on April 6th, 2013.
