In today’s society, hyper sexuality has become an important societal issue. In fact, as years go by, we see more and more kids wearing clothes or acting older than what they truly are. For example, yesterday I saw a 10 year-old girl in the metro wearing a really small skirt that could be interpreted as provocative. For elder generations youth’s behavior can be perceived as vulgar and inappropriate, which it is. But where is this generation inspired to behave that way? Actors and singers, which represent role models for today’s generation, have lately shown a severe increase in regards of vulgarity and scandals. For instance, Miley Cyrus, a former Disney actress, has been the role model of millions of little girls over the world. However, this week, at the Video Music Awards, she performed a scandalous and outrageous show that made the news everywhere over the world. In fact, she “twerked”, a popular yet vulgar dance that has sexual connotations. Those little girls that use to admire the ex-Disney actress were faced to whole new Cyrus that wasn’t a role model anymore. But, being a kid and admiring her from a long time, one can’t really distinguish the good from the bad from her and take what she does as an example, I can only let you imagine what kind of image actresses like Cyrus give to youth about what being grown-up really is about.
