The Baltimore Ravens, a new face for Obamacare

For the last few years, there has been a big debate going on in the U.S about president Barrack Obama's health care system, better known has Obamacare.  In an effort to raise awareness about the importance of a health coverage game plan, Obama required the National Football League's help.  The NFL refused, but one team took the matter in it's own hands.

Last year's Super Bowl champions, the Baltimore Ravens, have accepted to promote the benefits of Obamacare through multi-media advertising.  This campaign should be able to reach out to 71% of Marylanders.  Maryland officials hope that this plan will help carry Obamacare since it's implementation has now begun. But some local groups have had their say in the matter.  Americans for Tax Reform believe that their money is now being spent on a campaign that they want nothing to do with and that it is unfair to NFL fans to have to watch such a campaign when their actually ment to watch football. On the other hand, groups like Momrising, believe that it is an excellent way to promote good and healthy living.  So what is my take on this?

Has a football fan, I believe that it is wrong for the Obama administration and the HHS to promote their politics during public events like sport's games.  I'm not saying that Obamacare is a bad policy or anything of the sort.  It is also not about picking sides.  I believe that there is a reason why no other professional sport teams have stood up for Obamacare : loyalty.  Fans turn their chanels to ESPN to tune in on the Celtics basketball game, or maybe change to CBS sports to catch the last inning of the Dodgers game.  Some even go to the great lenght of paying some of their hard earned money to attend games.  So wouldn't it be wrong for sports teams to shove beliefs down people's throats?  Isn't it being disloyal to the fans to show footage of a health care plan while their actually meant to be cheering and chanting their team to victory?  Politics invades the media enough has it is. Football is one thing, politics is another and that's final.

I think it is ok for the Ravens to promote the Obamacare as they could promote any brand. Saying that they are shooting a belief down your throat is also valid for any kind of publicity. Companies are trying to convince you that you absolutely need their product by all the way possible. This is also a way of manipulating you. It doesn't disturb the football viewers to see ads about a bag of chips, so why would it be disturbing to see an Obamacare ad. There will always be commercial during football games anyways. In the end, you should take the information that matters to you and leave the one that doesn't interest you. Most americans already have their opinion on Obamacare and advertisement will not make them totally change their minds.
