The "Man Box"

When are people in general going to understand that being different is way better than being the same? Ofcourse, I took the "Man Box" as an example. The man box basically determines if you're a "man" or not. I don't understand why it even exists. It's amazingly stupid! I could comprehend that people dislike others, it is completely normal, but hating on someone who you don't think is "manly enough" ... really? Take a look at this quote, said by the famous rapper "Eminem" ; "I don't care if you're black, white, straight, gay, lesbian, short, tall, fat, skinny, rich or poor. If you're nice to me I'll be nice to you, simple as that." This quote says it all, why judge people by what you think of them or what they are, when truth is you don't know them one bit, and that you're just looking for people to bring down to show that you have power. People like that do exist, it's insane if you think about it! It is already determined the day you're born if you are a boy or girl/man or woman, there shoudn't be anymore controversy about your gender afterwards. Here's a link that explains in more detail what the "Man Box" is :http://tokiscool.blogspot.ca/2012/03/man-box.html

I must agree with what you have said and also add that there should not be anymore controversy about your race either. The things society comes up with in order to categorize and judge people is quite cruel and sad. The quote you had added about Enimen is very true as well. Gender and race inequalities are harsh and stupid and society is too quick to judge one based on their appearance, gender or race. It should be considered acceptable and normal to be different because no one is the same and it is not far to expect someone to be a certain way based on their gender or race. The concept of the "Man Box" is similar to saying Black people are all good at basketball or Asians are all smart. Not all males are masculine and not all females are feminine. That is fine and should not be criticized. The fact that society has norms for people and categorizes them based on their appearance, thoughts and behaviours, nationality or ancestry is wrong. People should be aloud to behave in the manner they want, example being masculine or not, and can be Black and very smart or Asian and good at basketball. Society should stop criticizing and categorizing people and stop setting such high expectations of what it thinks others or the idea human should be.
